Artist Bio

Lauren R. Lyde obtained a BS in Visual Communication from Towson University. She studied Illustration at Pratt Institute and Exhibition Design at the Corcoran School of Art before earning a MFA in Community Arts from Maryland Institute College of Art. While her preferred medium is oil on canvas, she experiments with painting on other materials such as brick, metal, and plexiglass. Recently, she has returned to rendering deeply poetic pencil drawings on handmade paper. She currently works as a teaching artist at a non profit arts organization, which focuses on youth leadership skills and development through the arts.
